Principal’s Welcome

Nau mai, haere mai ki
St Brendan's School!

As the Principal of St Brendan’s School, it is my privilege to extend a warm welcome to all visitors to our website. Our school is a vibrant, nurturing community dedicated to fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and a deep sense of social responsibility among our students.

St Brendan’s School challenges students to be their best while walking hand in hand with Christ. Our patron saint, St Brendan, symbolises courage, adventure, and exploration. His legacy inspires us to embark on our journeys of discovery and learning, guiding our students as they navigate their educational paths over their eight years with us.

We are proud to be the only school in Aotearoa named after St Brendan, a testament to our unique heritage. Founded by the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary (SMSMs), we honor their charism and the traditions they established. We stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us, continually reflecting on their contributions and the values they instilled.

Our guiding whakataukī, He waka eke noa – we are all in this together – captures the essence of our community. This whakataukī speaks to the importance of unity, connection, and relationships. At St Brendan’s, we believe that it is through these bonds that our students, staff, and families flourish. We are blessed with a dedicated team of professionals and a supportive community, working together to celebrate each individual’s unique gifts.

Our commitment to Kotahitanga (unity, togetherness) and Kaitiakitanga (stewardship, guardianship) underpins everything we do. We strive to create an environment where students feel valued, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Thank you for visiting our website. I invite you to explore further and learn more about the vibrant, inclusive, and faith-filled community that is St Brendan’s School. Together, we continue to navigate our shared journey, inspired by the spirit of St Brendan.

Ngā manaakitanga,

Veronica Sawers
